Spermicidal lubricant

The term 'spermicidal lubricant' is not entirely accurate. These gels lower the pH level within the vagina. This drop in pH prevents sperm cells from moving; the sperm are not killed, but rather rendered inactive. In this way, the gel effectively creates a mechanical barrier between the diaphragm and the cervix.

Always use this gel in combination with a diaphragm or cervical cap.
